For the 2025 edition, Compagnon chose a multi-day program in Den Bosch. To bring this experience to life, the organization brought in BARENTSZEN. From concept development and location proposals to logistical organization and execution: we managed the entire process.
Connection as an investment in employee retention
In a labor market where talent is increasingly difficult to retain, organizations are investing more frequently in the employee experience.
Compagnon understands that engaged employees stay longer. That is why this anniversary trip is not just about celebrating years of service, but primarily about strengthening the bond between colleagues and the organization.
For BARENTSZEN, the process began with an extensive pitch in which various destinations and concepts were developed. Ultimately, the choice fell on Den Bosch: a city that effortlessly combines hospitality, culture, and experience.
We then developed a program that perfectly matched the target audience, including the personal details that make an experience special. For instance, red tulips were waiting in the rooms and during various reception moments—a subtle tradition that has since become part of the long-standing partnership between Compagnon and BARENTSZEN.
The program
Day 1 – Discovering, experiencing, and making memories together
The anniversary trip began with a joint reception in Nuland. During a relaxed lunch, colleagues had the opportunity to meet and catch up outside the daily work environment.
Afterward, the group departed for the historic center of Den Bosch for a boat tour of the city’s fortress waters. From the water, participants discovered a different side of the Brabant capital, while there was plenty of room for informal conversation.
The boat tour was followed by a typical Den Bosch experience. While enjoying coffee and an authentic Bossche Bol, the group was introduced to one of the city’s most famous traditions. Then, the participants got to work themselves during a Bossche Bol making workshop—an activity that provided plenty of fun and interaction.
The day concluded with a culinary five-course dinner. In an atmospheric setting, everything focused on enjoying together, celebrating successes, and showing appreciation for employees who have contributed to Compagnon’s success for years.
Day 2 – Room for connection
After a communal breakfast, participants were given the opportunity to continue the trip in their own way. It is often these relaxed moments that lead to the most valuable conversations.
When colleagues get to know each other outside of their roles and daily tasks, stronger mutual relationships are formed. This not only increases job satisfaction but also contributes to a stronger organizational culture.
The impact
For Compagnon, this anniversary trip is much more than an annual tradition. It is a conscious investment in engagement, loyalty, and employee retention. By bringing colleagues together in an inspiring environment, space is created for connections that are not always a given in the office.
The trip strengthened not only the relationships between employees but also the bond between employee and employer. Colleagues returned with new memories, stronger connections, and the feeling that their years of dedication are truly seen and valued.
By developing a program together with Compagnon that fully aligned with the organizational culture, BARENTSZEN helped create an experience that went beyond a mere staff trip.
"We don't often experience such an eye for detail, such a high degree of flexibility and customer focus, and such tight internal organization from suppliers. We would therefore like to wholeheartedly recommend BARENTSZEN to any organization that wants to make their group trip a resounding success."
Creating meaningful encounters
At BARENTSZEN, we believe that the most valuable events are not about a destination or activity, but about what people experience together.
For Compagnon, Den Bosch became the backdrop for exactly that: bringing colleagues together, making appreciation visible, and strengthening connection. Because when people feel seen, engagement is created that lasts for years to come.
